Cultural Commitment

The arts need friends

“Every successful company has a duty to give something back to society. This is why the company’s social commitment is so important to me” said Peter Dussmann, the founder of the company.

In addition to longstanding support of state opera Unter den Linden, which Catherine von Fürstenberg-Dussmann continued after Peter Dussmann's death in 2013, the Dussmann Group supports a number of projects, particularly those which involve the artistic education of children and young adults.

Over the past year, more than 6,000 books have been donated to child care facilities, schools, children's wards in hospitals and facilities for young refugees. Catherine von Fürstenberg-Dussmann comments „The Dussmann Foundation and I have a profound interest in the cultural education of the young. Reading carries a cultural message and excites the imagination".

The promotion of young musical talent is a central concern of the Dussmann Group. The company sponsors the annual music awards at the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach music high school in Berlin and the winners subsequently perform on the stage at the KulturKaufhaus.

In 2013, the first Social Day was organized on the initiative of Catherine von Fürstenberg-Dussmann. Since then, it has grown into a popular annual event for employees and the executive board. Catherine von Fürstenberg-Dussmann is confident that "our social day promotes the culture of helping in Germany - enough talk, hands on!"

For many years, we have carried out annual campaigns in Germany and other German-language countries. A total of over 6,000 books in the forms of children's libraries, educational materials and book boxes have been donated to organizations for children and young adults.

In addition to its regular programs, the Dussmann Group regularly promotes selected individual projects.
