Cultural Commitment

The arts need friends

“Every successful company has a duty to give something back to society. This is why the company’s social commitment is so important to me” said Peter Dussmann, the founder of the company.

For many years, the state opera Unter den Linden has been supported by the Dussmann Group and this was continued after Peter Dussmann's death in 2013. Today, Catherine von Fürstenberg-Dussmann makes a personal contribution as a member of the curatorium of the association. Once a year, a state opera Sunday takes place at Dussmann das KulturKaufhaus and the proceeds go to the association -Verein der Freunde und Förderer der Staatsoper Unter den Linden e.V..

After taking on the chair of the board of trustees,  Catherine von Fürstenberg-Dussmann has headed sponsorship of several projects, particularly those which promote the education of children and young adults. More than 100 children's libraries have been presented to child-care facilities, schools and children's wards in hospitals.
